Hi Friends! I hope everyone has been doing well and is looking forward to Spring as much as I am! I can't believe it has already been a week since my last post, time is just ah flying! I have several things on my plate right now, which unfortunately means that I won't be blogging much. I am taking classes to earn my BA degree, still working on furniture for my booth (to pay for my classes), working on scenery for my daughter's musical theater club, and just life with my kids, husband, and household stuff, it's making it hard to squeeze in anything else on a regular basis right now. I'm going to post as often as I can, especially when I have new furniture finds or crafty things. Hopefully things will calm down a little when school gets out for all of us, but I seem to recall saying those same exact words before, and it never happens.
Here is what I'm working on right now:
I found this dresser at the thrift store by me. It was originally marked $50 and I patiently waited for it to go on sale, and finally, after 5 months, they dropped it to $15 with 25% off of that! The waiting paid off! It is solid wood (even the drawers), except for the back, that is a thin particle board type thingy.
These are the drawers (sorry for forgetting to take a before picture with it all together), they have a nice bow shape to them.
This is after sanding the top with my palm sander and using paint/stain remover. The bottom has not been sanded yet, and if it wasn't so dark in the workshop, you would be able to see the difference in color better.
I'm using this for the top of the dresser....this is after only one coat of stain...
I still have to sand it and reapply stain (I'll probably use three coats), I hope it doesn't stay blotchy :(
I have primed the drawers with Kilz primer and I'm not sure if I'm going to paint the dresser white, or a light gray? I'll make that decision once the rest of the dresser is primed and the top is done. This is as far as I have gotten with it for now. I will take a picture of the hardware it came with later as well.
Now, I have to go do my schoolwork before taking my little "N" to school and running errands! Hope you all have a wonderful day....enjoy the sunshine!!
