Happy Saturday everyone! It was a beautiful day and I spent a lot of it outside---loved it! I could have been doing some fall maintenance yard work, but heck no, I just walked around my yard admiring all the pretty fall colors and basking in the doing nothing-ness of it all (not even tying my shoes...which is the reason I almost fell into my rose bushes...but...I didn't...so I'm still basking all happy like.) I'm doing a small posting today because I'm
busy doing nothing busy working on some furniture for my booth (I did actually start sanding a desk,
so that counts...yes?) I sold some pieces today and I now have a very bare space!! So, I'm posting about some chairs that I bought from the thrift store (I don't have any before pictures) that I refinished in a slate gray color with some distressing and.....NUMBERS! I love numbers! I love them on everything!! I don't have very good pictures of the chairs because I didn't know when I took them that I would one day have a blog to post them on.
See, not a very good picture, but you get the idea at least!
I for some reason only have a picture of the number 2 chair and not the number 3 chair! I will be better about that in the future! Anyway, I used Kilz Light Slate color paint, distressed it with steel wool, glazed with a chestnut brown, and then the numbers were painted on with a stencil and burnt umber paint. I then went back over it with the steel wool to distress the numbers as well. If I had to do it all over again, I would make the numbers a little bit bigger, but I still like the way they turned out!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh WOW I would have NEVER thought of using KILLS as anything other than a primer. These are too cool. The DH and I are heading over to 2nd Chance Architectural Salvage in Baltimore (you said you were a MD Momma when you stopped by my blog) on Monday to ferret around for some distressed mirrors and frames. We just got back from New Orleans and I'm now obsessed with recreating some of that broke-down Victorian feel.
ReplyDeleteOhh yeah I love these! I want to do something to mine like this but need to repaint them first! =) Awesome
ReplyDeleteI love distressed furniture, and the number idea is so neat! Something different and fun in home decor.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great chair. I want to do that I have some very similar chairs!
