This has me thinking about the warmth of a fire, which leads me to thinking about not wanting to clean out the mountain of ashes that are still in my fireplace, that has led me to thinking about my fire pit outside...that is probably warmer than my house is right now... due to the sun (I heart you so much right now Mr. Sun!)
I ALWAYS wanted a fire pit for us to sit around as a family, listen to music, have some wine (or juice), roast marsh mellows or weenies, tell stories and pretend to be listening, etc. Thanks to a big storm we had that knocked down some pretty large trees...my wish for a fire pit came true! We have trails in our woods for my husband and kids to ride their four-wheelers on (and play the ultimate game of keep away from the poison ivy) and this gigantic tree (which is sad, really, because it was very pretty), fell right across one of the trails. Since we had to chop it up anyway, and we had to drag it away anyway, I thought it would be wonderful if we could drag each of the pieces that I so carefully selected to fit everyone's tushes...oh about 150 yards. Oh, and by we, I of course mean, my husband and his friend Brent (I heart you so much right now guys!) Being the wonderful guys that they are, they rolled the logs to the spot that I wanted to make the fire pit area, and I was able to design my space. Did I mention that I wanted to be a Landscape Architect? Still would love to go to school for that but 1.) The one and only degree program that is only about a little over an hour away is very competitive and only allows about 20 people into it a year and 2.) Very, very expensive degree program (which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get my A.A.) Anyway, using leftover materials from other projects, this is what I was able to make!!
AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AT NIGHT
(This was taken during a party...my little "N" and my friend Steph with her son)
I love it! I love everything about it, well, not so much the daddy long legs that like to hang out with us, but I love the memories that we are making around it!! This is one my most favorite things about fall!!
Now, before I go (the heating repair man is coming---yay!) I want to show you a Sneak Peek of my next project that I will hopefully finish this week!
this is the reason it needs some love! I hope you all have a wonderful, warm, day!!
