A Christmas Bedroom for Mom and Dad

It is foggy and dreary here, and normally that would have me in a funk, running around lighting all of my candles and turning every light on in the house...but not today! I, for the first time ever, decorated my bedroom for Christmas!! I have always wanted to do that and just always put it off because other things had to be done first. Well, because there is a Holiday Home Link Party going on, and Layla over at  http://theletteredcottage.net/ is hosting a Mantel party, I decided to do that first this year! I might try to post my family room mantel when it is done (right now it looks like Fall and Christmas are having a decorating fight in there) but today, I'm going to post my faux fireplace mantel instead (because it is the ONLY room in my house that is clean right now.)

Here is....wait a minute....what is that crinkling noise?  Why does it sound like my birds are trying desperately to escape their cage? Hold on while I check....

Would you like to see what I found????

 First there was this.......

Then there was this....

AND Finally....

YES, she is trying to (quickly before Mommy finds her) wrap the birds up so we can give them to someone else because they won't be quiet while she watches Mickey's Playhouse on Disney!!! I explained to her, without one giggle escaping,  that they were just singing along to "Hot Dog, HOT Dog," with her and she decided they could stay :) Such a sweet heart she has! Gotta love the little unexpected surprises that having children brings!

Okay, so now, back to the pictures of my mantel in my room....

The light in my room was a lot better than this, but it turned out darker because of the dreary natural non-light that is not coming through the windows! I used things I already had in the house so that I didn't have to spend anymore money. I cut branches from the pine trees to use all over the house and had extras to use for the mantel...

Added some red Christmas balls that came from Walmart ($1 for four) and fake Holly that I used for my Thanksgiving table.

I also added my faux mercury glass votive holders, crystal candlestick holders, and my chunky, wooden ones that are always up there anyway.

I still had some left over greenery, so I added it to the mirror over my bed and to the table that I was supposed to re-finish and sell at my booth...but haven't yet...because it holds all of my books...and...I like it....

By the way, the bowl with the three flower vases on the right were all spray painted...the bowl was tin and the flower vases were glass! I bought them from my favorite thrift store for $2 total. I really like the way they came out!!

Well, I'm off to have some lunch and dance around the living room with my little "N," I hope everyone has a great day, and if you haven't already, check out Layla's blog!!
