A Big "Thank You" and My First Refurbished Piece

Good Morning! I want to start off by saying "Thank You" to Tracy at http://tracys-trinkets-treasures.blogspot.com for not only allowing me to ask her many questions on how to set up my blog, but for getting back to me in the same day with the answers!! I'm going to try some of them out later on today :) If you have the chance, go visit her blog---she has lots of great ideas and is very talented!!

I wanted to post pictures of the first piece of  furniture I refinished. I'll add more pictures of other furniture here and there so it is not so overwhelming that your eyes glaze over! This was a dresser that I found at a thrift store that just needed some love (and a good scrubbing and sanding!)

This is the first piece I refinished. The picture doesn't show it, but, someone tried to stain over top of a white dresser without sanding it down first. There was also finger nail polish, marker, and various scratches all over the top. I had already taken the mirror off when I took this picture.

Oh look, here it is! On the floor of my family room...which has now turned into my office/workshop when it's raining/storage space. I'm hoping my husband will clear out a little spot for me in his workshop so we can reclaim part of our family room!

After giving it a good sanding with my Black and Decker palm sander, I primed it with Kiltz, sanded it lightly, and then painted the mirror and the dresser white (sorry...I don't remember the exact color, but it was a Valspar satin). The glaze was a mixture of walnut stain and water, which I applied with a brush and wiped off with a damp rag (old sock).
Here is the body of the dresser after the paint and glaze dried. Oh, I also used a spray paint gun that fell apart after the second time using it. It was heavy, hard to open the canister, and dripped...a lot! I'm trying to find a better one that is not too expensive---so, if you have any suggestions---please let me know!!
Tah-daaah (is that how you spell that???)! Here it is all done and in my back yard! I bought new oil rubbed bronze hardware from Target for about $20. I accessorized the top with some items that I found at the thrift store that I love, and then off to my booth she went!

I am finding that it is really hard to let go of some of the pieces that I have done. I feel like Cinderella's step-sister when she is trying to squeeze her big foot into the tiny glass slipper---I keep trying to squeeze my too- big- for- that- space furniture into a tiny little space! "See honey, it does fit!" I say to my husband as he stands there with arms crossed, just staring at me...with that stare that makes it possible for me to know what he is thinking without actually voicing it (how do they do that?) Does anyone else have a "letting go of things not needed" issue?

Well, time to get my day started---I'm going to go grab another cup of coffee and start the mountains of laundry that I ignored for three days need to do. I'll add another piece of furniture that I refurbished in tomorrow's post. Have a wonderful day!!
